5E Advanced Materials Inc. has secured an initial $8 million investment from the Export-Import Bank of the United States to support development at the Fort Cady Integrated Boron Facility in California.

The funding acts as a precursor to an application for a $285 million project debt facility, for which 5E has already received a letter of intent. The financing initiative advances the facility through engineering, financing, and customer development toward a Final Investment Decision.

The federal backing follows recognition from the White House during the American Mining Roundtable hosted by President Donald J. Trump, where the project was highlighted among strategic operations supporting administration efforts to rebuild domestic critical mineral supply chains. Fort Cady is fully permitted, designated as Critical Infrastructure by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and holds a place on the U.S. Department of the Interior Critical Minerals List following the addition of boron.

The site is positioned to produce high-value boron specialty materials while also recovering lithium as a co-product. Boron supports applications across defense, semiconductor manufacturing, permanent magnets, advanced glass and ceramics, aerospace, fiberglass, insulation, fertilizers, energy infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. These applications underpin long-term trends including electrification, artificial intelligence, grid modernization, and domestic manufacturing. In recent weeks, the company has announced four commercial agreements to support market demand.

Shares of 5E Advanced Materials are currently trading at $1.50, down 13.79% on August 10, 2026.
