Abcourt Mines Reports Record Development for Q4 2026 at Sleeping Giant
Abcourt Mines Inc. (ABI) (TSXV) has released its operational results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, highlighting a period of intense activity at its Sleeping Giant gold mine in Abitibi, Quebec. The company reported a significant ramp-up in both mine development and mill throughput, successfully processing 11,891 tonnes of ore. This output represents a 160% increase over the previous quarter, as the company continues to focus on improving its extraction and processing efficiencies.
"This fourth quarter demonstrates the success of our ramp-up phase at Sleeping Giant."
— Pascal Hamelin, President and CEO
Underground operations saw a substantial leap, with 554 meters of development completed, a 180% increase compared to the third quarter. The company also ramped up its exploration efforts, completing 11,059 meters of diamond drilling during the period. This work is part of a broader objective to expand the project's resource base. Additionally, gallery rehabilitation surged by 231% to 1,052 meters, a move management anticipates will increase the number of accessible working faces for future operations.
While the processing facility saw higher throughput, gold production for the quarter totaled 720 ounces. The average grade for the quarter was 2.1 g/t, a figure the company attributes to the processing of lower-grade development material required during this transition phase in the mine sequence.
"Despite temporarily lower grades this quarter, due to mine plan sequencing, mill efficiency and daily throughput have reached new heights."
— Pascal Hamelin, President and CEO
Looking ahead, the company is prioritizing the integration of long-hole stope extraction to support its production profile. As training programs for the underground workforce continue throughout 2026, the company expects these operational efficiencies to stabilize. Abcourt remains committed to maintaining its momentum in the Abitibi region as it balances these activities with the ongoing advancement of its other assets, including the Flordin gold project. By diversifying its development-stage portfolio in northwestern Quebec, the company is aiming to secure a broader base for its long-term operations. The current focus remains on maintaining the record-level development paces established this quarter while refining the recovery processes at the Sleeping Giant mill. By continuing its drilling program and optimizing underground workflows, the company seeks to build upon the foundational work completed during the recent fiscal year to enhance the predictability and output of the mine.
