Albemarle Delivers $858 Million Adjusted EBITDA in Second Quarter
Albemarle Corporation reported net sales of $1.7 billion for the second quarter ended 30 June 2026, a 31% increase primarily driven by higher pricing in its Energy Storage segment and increased pricing and volumes in its Specialties business. Net income reached $480 million, while adjusted EBITDA rose 155% to $858 million.
The Energy Storage segment contributed $1.3 billion in net sales, marking a 78% increase attributed to higher pricing. Adjusted EBITDA for this segment reached $723 million, a 229% gain. Albemarle noted that it expects minimal impact on Energy Storage sales volumes following a fire at the Talison CGP3 facility on 9 June, as increased output from the Wodgina mine helps offset the disruption.
The Specialties segment generated $423 million in net sales and $118 million in adjusted EBITDA, reflecting a 20% and 61% increase respectively. Performance was supported by an 8% increase in volumes and an 11% rise in pricing.
The company generated $710 million in cash from operating activities and reported free cash flow of $638 million for the quarter. Following these results, Albemarle has reduced its full-year 2026 capital expenditure forecast to approximately $500 million, citing ongoing capital efficiency improvements. The company also reported year-to-date run-rate cost and productivity improvements of $100 million, tracking toward the high end of its full-year target of $100 million to $150 million.
"Albemarle delivered another quarter of strong results, reflecting improved pricing, continued strength in Specialties, disciplined cost and productivity execution, and strong cash generation,"
— Kent Masters, Chairman and CEO
