Allied Gold Corporation has advanced its Kurmuk Mine in western Ethiopia toward commercial operations by completing its grid connection and feeding first ore through the processing facility’s crushing circuit.

The 88-kilometre power line connecting the operation to the Ethiopian electrical grid has been successfully commissioned and energized. The 132-kV line and related substations were completed by Ethiopian Electric Power and provide electrical power at a fixed rate of approximately US$0.04 per kilowatt-hour under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Earlier in the month, first ore was delivered to the commissioned crushing circuit, initiating the handover from the construction and commissioning team to operations. Mining activities continue to advance across the initial Dish Mountain and Ashashire open pits, establishing an ore stockpile of approximately one million tonnes. Stockpiled ore levels are planned to increase to nearly 1.5 million tonnes to support ramp-up feed.

The Kurmuk Mine represents the cornerstone of Allied Gold's organic growth strategy as a large-scale mining operation designed to become a significant contributor to production and cash flows. With individual systems undergoing testing and handover, Allied Gold expects to introduce first ore to the grinding circuit in the coming weeks, with first gold production to follow shortly thereafter.
