Alurion Resources Limited has shifted from resource definition to field-based project development by launching an infill drilling and bulk-sampling program at the Amargosa Bauxite-Gallium Project in Bahia, Brazil.

The work program is designed to gather decision-quality data for a direct-ship-bauxite pre-feasibility study, which Alurion is targeting for completion in mid-2027. Field activities across the project's Central District include 203 auger holes for 2,436 metres, 20 diamond twin holes for 800 metres, and up to 16 bulk-sample trenches.

The Central District serves as the main development anchor for the project, holding the largest share of Amargosa’s direct-ship and beneficiable bauxite mineral resources. The current technical programs aim to upgrade resource confidence categories while testing bauxite processing yields, product sizing, and the potential recovery of critical mineral co-products such as ilmenite, zircon, monazite, and gallium.

In parallel with the physical sampling work, Alurion is completing an independent road-logistics study. This assessment will define route capacity, fleet configurations, and staged haulage expansions connecting the project north to the Port of Enseada, while evaluating medium-term integration options with the FIOL rail and Porto Sul infrastructure.

“The PFS program targets the levers that impact project value: PFS standard resource estimate, product performance, and potential critical mineral co-products. In parallel, the independent logistics study will test the scale of road haulage to Enseada and a future FIOL load-out, preserving a lower-capex initial development route and a pathway to future larger-scale rail-linked exports.”

— Maurício Noronha, Chief Executive Officer, Alurion Resources

The field program and technical studies follow Alurion’s demerger from Brazilian Rare Earths and its ASX listing in July 2026, which raised $50 million through an initial public offering. Alongside the logistics study and metallurgical testing, the company intends to deliver an updated Mineral Resource Estimate to feed directly into the mid-2027 pre-feasibility study.
