American West Hits Thick Copper And Molybdenum At West Desert

American West Metals Limited has intersected thick intervals of visual copper, zinc and molybdenum mineralisation in the latest diamond drilling at its 100% owned West Desert Project in Utah.
Drill hole WD26-07, completed approximately 350m west of the West Desert Deposit, returned a combined total of 140m of carbonate replacement deposit style mineralisation featuring disseminated to strong visual chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite and sphalerite across five main zones. The same hole also intersected a combined total of 219m of strong visual molybdenite and lesser copper sulphides within endo-skarn and altered monzonite porphyry.
The visual sulphides are hosted within exo- and endo-magnetite skarn and altered porphyry, geological features characteristic of major base metal systems. Zinc and copper sulphides at the project are typically associated with high levels of indium, silver, gold and other critical metals, which will be verified by laboratory assays.
“Drill hole WD26 -07, the furthest west hole drilled to date, has intersected an exceptional thickness of mineralised skarn and porphyry intrusive containing extensive visual copper, zinc and molybdenum mineralisation...”
— Dave O'Neill, Managing Director of American West Metals
The latest intercepts extend critical metal mineralisation along a 4km magnetic trend. Earlier in the year, drill hole WD26-01 intersected a continuous 77.65m interval of visual skarn mineralisation, while the current hole WD26-07 has delivered substantially thicker intervals. Additional drilling in the program has also advanced, with drill hole WD26-06 positioned approximately 1km north along an untested contact intersecting thick zones of visual magnetite skarn alongside an 11m interval of breccia-hosted visual copper oxides. Hole WD26-05, drilled 370m east of hole WD26-01, identified further visual zinc and molybdenite mineralisation to help define prospective intrusive contacts.
The West Desert Project hosts JORC-compliant resources for indium, zinc, copper, gold and silver, including the largest undeveloped indium resource in the United States. Exploration activities are supported by funds raised through an institution-led A$10 million strategic placement completed in May 2026.
Follow-up drilling is currently underway. Laboratory assays for the visual results reported from the latest holes are being expedited and are expected within the next four to six weeks.
