Angkor Resources Corp. subsidiary EnerCam Resources Co., Ltd. saw its onshore Block VIII oil and gas concession presented by Cambodia's Ministry of Mines and Energy at the International Conference on Energy Security in Penang, Malaysia.

The ministry promoted the onshore petroleum license to an international audience as a working example of developing a new oil and gas sector in the country. The 4,095-square-kilometre block sits in the southwest quadrant of Cambodia and is held under a 30-year Production Sharing Contract with the Royal Government of Cambodia.

EnerCam has completed 350 line-kilometres of 2D seismic and successfully defined drill targets across four distinct sub-basins: Bokor South, Bokor Central, Bokor North and Kirirom. In addition, the subsidiary has advanced its Environmental Impact Assessment through the inter-ministerial review process.

Building on these preparatory steps, EnerCam plans to execute a 4+1 exploratory drilling program on the concession. This upcoming campaign consists of one exploration well in each of the Kirirom, South Bokor, Central Bokor and North Bokor sub-basins, followed by a fifth well positioned on the results of the initial wells under the Production Sharing Contract.

Because Cambodia currently imports all of its hydrocarbon-based energy products, establishing a domestic supply of oil and gas remains a primary national goal. EnerCam continues to collaborate directly with the Ministry of Mines and Energy on the drilling contractor tender, which requires formal ministerial approval prior to publication.
