Anson Resources Exceeds EV Battery Grade Standard With 99.6% Lithium Carbonate At Green River
Anson Resources Limited has produced 99.6% purity lithium carbonate from brine extracted at its Green River Lithium Project in Utah, surpassing the electric vehicle industry standard of 99.5%.
Downstream processing contractor JordProxa produced the high-purity material during flow sheet development at its facility in South Africa using lithium chloride eluate sent from the project. Independent testing by SGS North America confirmed the 99.6% grade alongside low impurity levels and a needle-like crystal morphology suited for high-performance electric vehicle batteries.
The result improves upon previous work at the company's in-house Lithium Innovation Center, which achieved 99.4% purity in February 2026.
The Green River operations are backed by a binding Demonstration Plant Agreement with POSCO Holdings executed in June 2026, under which POSCO is funding and leading the design, construction, and operation of a Direct Lithium Extraction demonstration plant at the site. The company also received a formal Letter of Advice in August 2026 outlining a proposed state and local incentive package valued at an estimated US$357.7 million from the Economic Development Corporation of Utah.
“Producing battery-grade lithium carbonate from Green River brine is a significant milestone because it demonstrates that the project can potentially supply lithium suitable for the EV battery market, moving the project closer to commercial development. The improvement of the grade to 99.6% using the downstream flowsheet developed by JordProxa provides us with the surety that we Anson will be able to meet product specification of take partner LG Energy Solutions. Anson is continuing aim is to develop the most economic beneficial process that maximizes shareholder returns.”

JordProxa expects to finalize its downstream flow sheet design and engineering work by the end of 2026. Those engineering outputs will feed into a Definitive Engineering Study for the Green River project scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
