Argent Minerals Limited has commenced its maiden drilling campaign at the 100%-owned Trunkey Creek Gold Project in New South Wales.

The Phase 1 program consists of 10 holes targeting approximately 1,000 metres of diamond and reverse circulation drilling. The initial work is designed to test a priority target in the north of the 4.7-kilometre gold-mineralised structural corridor, focusing specifically on the historic Wilson's Reef prospect.

Argent owns 100% of the gold project, which is located approximately 9 kilometres by road southeast of the company's flagship Kempfield Project. Historic workings extend across most of the 4.7-kilometre corridor but remain largely untested by modern exploration below the surface. Historical records indicate that underground mining historically ceased because of high groundwater inflows rather than any exhaustion of the gold-bearing structures.

The company has appointed Orange-based contractor Chief Drilling to execute the program, with at least one diamond rig deployed to the site. Geological logging of drill core is proceeding immediately as the campaign advances.

Argent plans to report assay results from the maiden Phase 1 drilling program as they are received from the laboratory, with turnaround prioritised for the most prospective core intervals.
