Argosy Minerals advances engineering works at Rincon
Argosy Minerals Limited (AGY) has provided a technical update on the ongoing feasibility and engineering activities for its Rincon lithium project in Argentina. The company is currently focused on completing the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for a proposed 12,000 tonnes per annum production facility. Recent efforts have centered on validating the process flowsheet, which includes critical work on evaporation ponds and brine management systems.
Process testwork has reached a key stage, with pilot-scale operations in Salta demonstrating the technical viability of the project. Specifically, solvent extraction tests successfully produced a lithium chloride concentrate with 99% purity and a recovery rate of 94.4%. These technical results, alongside completed evaporation testworks, are now being integrated into the final design and engineering packages. This transition marks a shift from isolated test programs toward the consolidation of data for the final DFS, with the basic engineering package expected to be finalized by late September 2026.
Infrastructure development is also advancing, specifically regarding the project's 40MW power requirements. Following a formal agreement with the provincial electricity distributor, EDESA, the company has confirmed that technical and commercial assessments for the necessary energy infrastructure are complete. The proposed 33kV transmission line, which will connect the site to the national grid, is being managed in parallel with adjacent project infrastructure to streamline regulatory approvals.
Remaining technical milestones include the completion of a two-stage crystallisation test program currently underway in Europe. This work is intended to refine the flowsheet and optimize product quality. Collectively, these activities are designed to de-risk the project by providing the required engineering and operating data for equipment sizing, capital expenditure forecasting, and the comprehensive economic evaluation scheduled for the coming months.
