Deepest Hole at Achilles Extends High Grade Mineralisation
Australian Gold and Copper Ltd (AGC) has reported positive drill results from its South Cobar project in New South Wales, demonstrating that the Achilles mineral system remains open at depth. The company’s deepest hole to date, A3DD014, intersected mineralisation approximately 540 metres down dip from the surface. This intercept sits 250 metres below the base of the current Mineral Resource, suggesting significant potential for further expansion of the system.
The drilling returned a notable intersection of 26m at 102g/t AgEq, which included a high-grade component of 15m at 153g/t AgEq and a further high-grade zone of 2m at 770g/t AgEq. A nearby hole, A3DD016, also contributed to the data set by returning 3m at 97g/t AgEq from 332 metres. These results provide essential technical data for evaluating the geometry and continuity of the deposit as exploration continues.
"A3DD014 is the deepest hole drilled at Achilles to date and has returned the strongest result from the recent depth-extension drilling program. This is an excellent result and confirms the Achilles mineral system remains open and fertile hundreds of metres below the current resource."
"These deeper results are important for long-term planning. They provide further confidence as we assess future underground mining potential, resource growth and development options for the deposit."
— Glen Diemar, Managing Director
Building on these findings, the company is shifting its immediate focus toward near-surface opportunities. The next phase of exploration at Achilles is planned to comprise a shallow reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, which will target extensions to the strong oxide gold-silver mineralisation identified in previous work. By focusing on shallower targets, the explorer expects to conduct this program at a lower cost and with a faster execution timeline, directly supporting efforts to grow the near-surface resource.
Beyond the work at Achilles, the company continues its broader technical programs across the South Cobar tenement. Diamond drilling is currently underway at the Evergreen project, with further assay results from that activity expected to be released over the coming weeks. These upcoming programs, both at the shallow levels of Achilles and through the ongoing diamond drilling at Evergreen, form the core of the company's current efforts to define and increase its precious and base metals endowment in the region. The team remains committed to systematically advancing these prospects to clarify their long-term development potential.
