Avrupa Minerals Secures Kolima Exploration Permit in Finland

Avrupa Minerals Ltd. has secured the Kolima copper-zinc exploration permit in Central Finland following the resolution of all regulatory appeals, clearing the way for active fieldwork on the property.
The permit is now fully issued to Akkerman Finland Oy, the operating partnership holding the ground. The venture is owned 49 percent by Avrupa Minerals and 51 percent by Akkerman Exploration B.V. Through this partnership, the group manages a portfolio comprising seven copper-zinc volcanogenic massive sulfide projects across the Pyhäsalmi Mining District alongside one orogenic gold prospect situated in the Oijärvi Greenstone Belt.
The Kolima project is located 60 kilometres south of the Pyhäsalmi Mine. Historical investigations conducted intermittently by the Geological Survey of Finland between 1956 and 1993 outlined a mineralized zone measuring 200 to 400 metres wide and 2,000 metres long. This area contains disseminated zinc-lead mineralization and thin semi-massive sulfide stringers bearing pyrite, sphalerite, galena, and chalcopyrite, hosted within a sequence of marine metasediments and volcaniclastic rocks. Geological modelling interprets this zone as a potential distal mineral facies related to an undiscovered massive sulfide system.
With the permit officially in place, the company is moving forward with operational preparations. The immediate technical objective is to secure permits for selected scout drill hole collars within the target area to test prospective horizons identified during earlier reconnaissance work.
“We are pleased that the Kolima permit has now been issued without encumbrance, and is ready for further exploration work. The next step will be to permit selected scout drill hole collars in the target area. The area is part of our Pyhäsalmi VMS project portfolio, and we look forward to moving the project forward.”
— Paul W. Kuhn, President/CEO of Avrupa Minerals
Permitting activities for the upcoming drill program represent the initial phase of active evaluation across the Pyhäsalmi property package as the joint venture works to locate potential proximal VMS mineralization in the district.
