Awale Resources Appoints Michael Dorfman to Board
Awale Resources Limited has appointed Michael Dorfman to its Board of Directors as an independent director, replacing outgoing board member Karl Akueson.
In connection with the appointment, the company granted Dorfman 400,000 incentive stock options exercisable at $0.90 per common share for a three-year period. The options vest one-third immediately, with the remaining balance vesting in two equal annual installments over the following two years. The board appointment and option grant remain subject to final approval from the TSX Venture Exchange.
Dorfman brings more than 20 years of mining industry experience, most recently serving as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at DPM Metals, where he played a central role in the company's transformation into a mid-tier gold producer by leading strategy, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and technical services. Prior to his tenure at DPM, Dorfman spent approximately 10 years in investment banking with institutions including Merrill Lynch and Thomas Weisel Partners.
The board change comes as Awale continues to advance its flagship Odienné Project in Côte d'Ivoire, which hosts an initial inferred mineral resource estimate of 1.71 million ounces gold equivalent across the BBM, Charger, and Empire deposits. Fortuna Mining previously acquired a 15% equity stake in Awalé through a C$8.26 million strategic investment in May 2025.
