Azimut Exploration Inc. (AZM) has released the results from its initial diamond drilling campaign at the Wabamisk East property in Quebec’s Eeyou Istchee James Bay region. The program, which consisted of five holes totalling 650 metres, focused on testing the Lithos pegmatite field. Every hole intersected lithium-bearing pegmatite, confirming the potential identified by previous surface prospecting, mechanical stripping, and channel sampling.

The drilling returned encouraging high-grade results, most notably in hole WL25-02, which intersected 2.20% Li2O over 23.05 metres, including a higher-grade sub-interval of 3.40% Li2O over 4.45 metres. Another standout result came from hole WL25-01, which returned 1.87% Li2O over 36.30 metres. These intercepts are consistent with the grades observed during earlier surface exploration, where 340 samples returned an average grade of 1.94% Li2O. The spodumene crystals within the pegmatite bodies were observed to be large, ranging from 2 to 25 centimetres in size.

The drilling at Lithos North, the property's largest zone, revealed a series of en echelon pegmatite bodies within a 1.2-kilometre corridor. Preliminary interpretation suggests the presence of stacked, steeply dipping bodies. A single hole at the Lithos South area, located approximately two kilometres away, also intercepted mineralized pegmatite, highlighting the potential for further discoveries across the four-square-kilometre prospective area. While this initial campaign focused on lithium, the property hosts several other well-mineralized pegmatite outcrops that remain untested by the drill bit, such as the Benny, Jumbo, Whale, and Yo-Yo targets.

This maiden lithium drilling represents a strategic shift in exploration focus for the project. While the current work validates the site's lithium potential, the company has indicated that its broader 2026 exploration program will also prioritise the advancement of several gold targets in the vicinity. These gold prospects are situated within an anomalous arsenic trend that has been the focus of ongoing work on the adjacent Wabamisk property.

Looking ahead, Azimut has established clear operational goals for the site. The company plans to conduct follow-up diamond drilling along the Lithos North corridor to further test the extent of these open-ended pegmatite bodies. Simultaneously, it intends to advance the gold-focused exploration targets that sit within the project’s broader area.
