Azzuro Resources Defines Maiden Exploration Targets at Southwestern Mongolia Projects
Azzuro Resources PLC has announced maiden JORC Exploration Targets for its 100%-owned Oval copper-nickel-PGE and Red Hill copper-gold volcanogenic massive sulphide projects, located just eight kilometres apart in southwestern Mongolia.
The Oval Exploration Target is estimated at 6 million to 25 million tonnes grading 0.3% to 0.7% copper, 0.26% to 0.6% nickel, and 0.59% to 1.5% copper equivalent at a 0.2% copper equivalent cut-off. The estimate incorporates five priority magnetic-inversion target bodies across the magmatic intrusion system, alongside lower-range data based on existing drilling and ordinary kriging block modelling.
At Red Hill, the Exploration Target is estimated at 15 million to 30 million tonnes grading 0.71% to 0.9% copper and 0.26 to 0.4 grams per tonne gold at a 0.2% copper cut-off. The estimation covers three modelled bodies within the steeply north-dipping massive sulphide lens, which sits on mining licence MV-019681 valid to 2045 following the company's acquisition of 100% of the project through an option exercise and settlement earlier in the year.
Azzuro has designed a combined 14-hole, approximately 5,835-metre priority diamond drilling program to test the highest-priority target bodies across both properties. A separate, lower-cost pathway consisting of three holes totalling 290 metres at Oval and 11 holes totalling 1,760 metres at Red Hill has been outlined to convert portions of both targets into JORC Inferred Mineral Resources.
Downhole electromagnetic and three-dimensional induced polarization geophysical studies have commenced, and drilling is imminent. The company notes that the close proximity of the two assets offers potential for shared infrastructure, camp facilities, permitting efficiencies, and a unified development pathway.
Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren commented on the district-scale potential: “These maiden Exploration Targets confirm exactly what we've long believed - Oval and Red Hill aren't two isolated discoveries, they're one fertile mineralised corridor. That's genuine district-scale exposure to copper, nickel, gold and PGEs in one of the world's most under-explored, strategically located and low cost jurisdiction. We have a capital-efficient path forward to advance to a JORC resource.”
Field activities across the two southwestern Mongolian assets are supported by ongoing geophysical programs as the company prepares to commence its upcoming drilling campaigns.
