BacTech Environmental Corporation has established a wholly owned Peruvian subsidiary, BacTech Verde Peru S.A.C., to evaluate historic mine tailings for potential gold, silver, and copper reprocessing opportunities using bioleaching.

The newly formed subsidiary intends to review the Peruvian government's inventory of legacy mine tailings, many of which were inherited through bankruptcies and contain elevated arsenic levels that make them suitable for biological oxidation. The initial stage of the initiative focuses on reviewing available tailings data to identify suitable targets before engaging authorities regarding commercial arrangements such as royalties for the government or local communities.

The company has not entered into any formal agreements or secured access to specific projects in Peru, and technical or economic viability remains unverified pending future test work and studies. To guide local operations, BacTech has engaged Neil Tito Acosta Mariños as country manager, based in Trujillo in northern Peru.

The Peru program represents an early-stage exploratory effort, contrasting with BacTech’s recent Kazakhstan initiative, where the company signed a technical consulting and testing agreement to evaluate historic sulphide tailings in East Kazakhstan.
