Bighorn Metals Secures Marietta Project In Nevada With Option To PurchaseSource: iStoc
Bighorn Metals Corp. has secured an exploration lease with an option to purchase agreement for the Marietta property located within Mineral County, Nevada, in the Silver Star Mining District of the Excelsior Mountains.
Under the agreement effective September 3, 2026, the company holds an initial three-year term with two additional three-year renewal options available at its election. To maintain the option, Bighorn must make an initial lease payment of US$100,000 within 30 days, followed by annual minimum payments of US$100,000 on each of the first three anniversaries. These lease payments will not be credited toward the purchase price.
The agreement requires Bighorn to incur exploration work expenditures of US$50,000 within the first 12 months, followed by US$100,000 within 24 months and another US$100,000 within 36 months, bringing total committed expenditures to US$250,000 over the initial term. Bighorn may exercise its option to acquire a 100% undivided interest in the property for a cash purchase price of US$2,500,000. Upon closing the option, the property will become subject to a 2.0% production royalty on gross returns, half of which Bighorn can purchase for US$1,000,000 prior to commercial production.
The Marietta property comprises 12 patented lode mining claims and an adjoining townsite parcel situated in Sections 29 through 32 of Township 5 North, Range 33 East.
Alongside the Nevada acquisition, Bighorn holds an option to acquire the 1,656.73-hectare Loljuh Property in central British Columbia, which is prospective for porphyry copper-gold mineralization. Meanwhile, exploration activity continues in the wider Nevada district, where Oreterra Metals expanded its Kinkaid project within 50 kilometres of the Marietta project by staking 43 new claims over the KJ porphyry target in September 2026.
