Boron One Holdings Inc. has started the field exploration program for the season on its Jarandol Basin license area in Serbia through its wholly owned operating subsidiary, Balkan Gold d.o.o.

The 21-square-kilometre license area sits directly adjacent to the company’s Piskanja borate deposit. The current program includes geological mapping at a 1:2,500 scale, 75 soil samples, three trenches with 33 trench samples, and four drill holes totaling approximately 1,400 metres, alongside 120 core samples and 65 petrographic samples.

Field work aims to test high-value targets within the basin for potential boron content. Previous exploration by Balkan Gold indicated that the basin holds potential to host extensions to both the Piskanja deposit and the Pobrdje boron mine located 2.5 kilometres away, as both deposits remain unbounded toward the centre of the basin. The basin may also host entirely separate boron deposits.

During previous drilling within the Jarandol Basin, Balkan Gold completed six exploratory holes between the Piskanja and Pobrdje deposits, with three holes intersecting boron layers that exceeded economic criteria for grade and thickness.

The Jarandol Exploration License was issued in April 2024 with a three-year validity and can be extended up to eight years under Serbian mining regulations. The basin has a history of mining operations spanning more than a century and features established infrastructure including paved roads, rail, power, and support industries located approximately 250 kilometres south of Belgrade.
