Buffalo Potash Corporation has completed drilling the 2-14 vertical disposal well with 100% core recovery over approximately 108 metres at the Initial Production Module of the Disley Project in Saskatchewan, completing Phase 1 ahead of schedule and under budget.

The 2-14 well was logged through the Prairie Evaporite Formation, extended to the base of the Cambrian Deadwood Formation, and cased with a slotted liner to serve as a disposal well for excess brine.

It follows the completion of the 15-10 source well in July to produce brackish water from the Mannville Formation. That water will be pumped to the surface and saturated with sodium chloride to form the solvent for solution mining. Core samples from the 15-10 well have been sent to the Saskatchewan Research Council for assay, with 2-14 core data to follow.

Following Phase 1, the drilling rig moved about 1,600 metres west. On August 13, 2026, Buffalo spudded the 5D15-10 well, marking the start of Phase 2 horizontal line-drive drilling. This well is planned within the Prairie Evaporite Formation with a horizontal leg of about 550 metres.

The Initial Production Module is the first of three planned facilities at the Disley Project, situated east of K+S Bethune and north of Mosaic Belle Plaine. The module is designed to produce 125,000 tonnes per annum of soluble-grade potash with a targeted first production date in Q1 2027. Buffalo noted that its production decision is not based on a feasibility study of mineral reserves demonstrating economic and technical viability.
