Canterbury Resources (ASX: CBY) has received initial assay results from its 2026 infill drilling program at the Briggs Copper Project in Queensland. The first three holes confirmed consistent copper mineralisation across long intervals, including a highlight intercept of 322.3m at 0.17% Cu, 10ppm Mo, and 0.6g/t Ag. The results, which align with the project’s existing resource model, are being used to support a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) aimed at upgrading Inferred Resources to the Indicated category.

The current activity at the site is funded by partner Alma Metals under an earn-in agreement, with more than 2,400m of drilling already completed across seven holes. The company plans to ramp up this effort significantly, with approximately 10,000m of drilling scheduled for 2026 and another 17,500m planned for 2027. This work is designed to de-risk the project by better defining the mineralised core to support the first decade of a potential open-cut mining operation.

Beyond the ongoing work at Briggs, Canterbury is preparing to expand exploration efforts at its 100%-owned Monto Copper-Molybdenum Project. A diamond core drilling program is set to begin in late August at the John Hill deposit to test potential extensions of mineralisation that remain open at depth and laterally.

"Drilling activity is accelerating across our portfolio of large-scale copper assets in Queensland. We are pleased with progress to date and look forward to reporting a steady flow of results over the next 15 months. Well-located projects such as Briggs and Monto have potential to become significant contributors to future global copper supply."
