Defiance Silver has received environmental authorization from Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) to begin exploration drilling at the Espiritu target within its Green Earth Project in Sonora.

The approval of the company’s Informe Preventivo provides the necessary regulatory clearance to execute a large-scale exploration program. Under the terms set by SEMARNAT, the authorization remains valid for a 60-month period. During this time, Defiance is permitted to construct up to 172 drill platforms along with the supporting access roads required to reach the target area.

Following the receipt of the permit, the company is moving to initiate its planned exploration work program. This includes the primary construction phase for the drill platforms and access road infrastructure, which will serve as the foundation for the upcoming drilling activity at the copper target.

The company's shares reacted to the announcement during the 5 August 2026 session, with the stock currently trading at $0.175, an increase of 6.06%.

Commenting on the milestone, Defiance Chairman and CEO Chris Wright noted that the regulatory approval is a core component of the company's broader operational objectives in Mexico.

The upcoming site development and subsequent exploration work are now authorized under the newly granted environmental permit, clearing the immediate path for the team to begin ground-based operations at the site. The 172-platform capacity establishes the scope of the program, allowing the technical team to progress with the planned testing of the Espiritu target as part of the company's wider exploration mandate.
