DeSoto Resumes Timbakouna Drilling in Siguiri Exploration Expansion
DeSoto Resources Limited has expanded its exploration activities across the Siguiri Goldfields in Guinea, resuming a power auger drilling program at the Timbakouna Gold Project alongside regional geophysical and soil-sampling campaigns.
The field programs span both 100-owned permits and joint venture ground held in partnership with Fortuna Mining Corp. Operations are coordinated from regional headquarters in Kankan.
At Timbakouna, field crews have recommenced a 485-hole, 10,000-metre power auger drilling program targeting six kilometres of artisanal workings and untested historic intercepts. Two power auger rigs are scheduled to return to the site in the coming weeks to accelerate the drilling, while line-cutting activities proceed without heavy machinery.
In the broader southeast Siguiri region, the joint venture with Fortuna operates through the High Guinea Gold SARLU entity. Under the partnership structure, Fortuna holds an initial 70% interest and DeSoto holds 30%, with Fortuna sole-funding exploration up to the later of three years or US$12.5 million. Fieldwork across these joint venture permits includes stream-sediment sampling, geological and regolith mapping, and the structural mapping of artisanal workings.
DeSoto has also completed a 6,262-line-kilometre geophysical survey covering the Timbakouna, Dadjan, Tolè, Nèrèkoro Sud, Koba, Kassa Est, and Mini projects. Flown on 100-metre-spaced survey lines with 1,000-metre tie-lines, the survey has delivered magnetic and radiometric datasets and digital terrain models. Data processing is underway to generate new drill targets across the portfolio.
Additionally, follow-up soil-sampling programs have started across the 100-owned Yarakoura, Woussoubadou, and Branama permits in the southwest Siguiri area. These programs follow a regional stream-sediment sampling campaign that covered more than 687 square kilometres of drainage catchments. Yarakoura remains a primary focus due to its position along the interpreted north-south-trending Siguiri gold mineralization corridor.
Since February 2025, DeSoto has accumulated approximately 1,300 square kilometres of prospective gold tenure across 22 reconnaissance authorizations and exploration permits in the Siguiri Basin, establishing the company as the fifth-largest landholder in the region.
