Dundas Minerals Exercises Option for Rockland Gold Project
Dundas Minerals Limited (ASX: DUN) has formally exercised its option to acquire 100% of the Rockland Gold Project, a move that secures the granted Mining Lease M24/974 located approximately 40km north of Kalgoorlie. The company will settle the acquisition through a $100,000 cash payment and grant the vendor a 1.5% net smelter royalty. This decision follows a sustained period of exploration, during which Dundas identified a 1km-long trend of significant gold mineralisation that remains open along strike and at depth.
The project, which has seen no prior modern mining activity, has yielded promising intercepts during previous campaigns. Standout results include 6m at 3.3 g/t gold from 78m, as well as 2m at 5.6 g/t gold from 74m. Recent efforts focused on testing strike and depth extensions of the mineralised trend, with the company completing a 10-hole, 1,688-metre reverse circulation drilling programme. While two additional planned holes were abandoned due to the impact of cyclone Narelle, the company remains focused on interpreting the structural controls of the deposit.
Dundas is currently awaiting assay results, expected within the coming weeks, which will prove critical for its objective of defining a maiden Mineral Resource at the site. The exploration effort is consistent with the company's broader strategy of targeting unmined gold assets near established processing infrastructure. The regional structural grain observed at Rockland aligns with styles of gold mineralisation common to the surrounding Kalgoorlie district.
The project area is situated within a busy region of Western Australia. Nearby, explorers and producers such as Javelin Minerals Limited (Eureka) and Zuleika Gold Limited (Zuleika) are also actively advancing gold assets. Dundas’s management team continues to leverage its experience in exploration and development to systematically evaluate the potential of its Kalgoorlie-focused portfolio, which also includes the Capricorn and Baden-Powell projects. The company's focus remains on refining its geological model at Rockland while preparing for follow-up drilling once pending assay data is fully integrated into the project's development plan.
