FinEx Metals Commences Drilling at Kero Gold Project, Finland
FinEx Metals Ltd. (TSX-V: FINX) has officially commenced a diamond drilling program at its 100%-owned Kero project in northern Finland. The company is executing a 2,000-metre core drilling campaign alongside a systematic collection of 600 top-of-bedrock and bottom-of-till geochemical samples. This effort represents the first systematic attempt to evaluate the property using a revised structural interpretation.
Management believes that historical drilling conducted by the Geological Survey of Finland was largely oriented sub-parallel to the primary mineralized structures, potentially obscuring the true geometry of the gold-bearing zones. The current program employs revised azimuths to improve the intersection angle of these targets, including areas that returned historical intervals such as 9.05 metres grading 1.95 g/t gold.
"We are very pleased to have drilling underway at Kero. This program is the first systematic drill campaign on the Project to apply our revised geological interpretation and is designed to test zones of historical gold mineralization and several exciting new targets."
— Tero Kosonen, Chairman and CEO of FinEx
The technical team has identified three distinct target areas. Targets A and B are focused on validating historical gold intersections, while Target C represents a previously undrilled geophysical anomaly interpreted as a brittle deformation zone. Beyond confirming known mineralization, the 600-sample till survey is designed to map extensions of gold systems beneath the region’s ubiquitous glacial cover.
Geologically, the project sits within the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt, a region known for hosting significant gold deposits. The company views the site’s structural setting as particularly prospective due to its position within a corridor that may mirror the architecture of major nearby gold-bearing systems.
"At a district scale, the Kero project is positioned within a regional NNW-trending structural corridor that may represent a parallel expression of the Kiistala Shear Zone, the structure hosting Agnico Eagle's Kittilä gold mine."
— Dr. Petri Peltonen, Chief Geologist of FinEx
This exploration program is a key milestone for the company as it seeks to define the continuity of mineralization at Kero. The upcoming completion of the diamond core drilling and the subsequent processing of geochemical assays will provide the necessary data to evaluate the potential for further development. With crews now active on-site, the company is focused on the execution of these data-gathering initiatives to refine its understanding of the project's structural controls and overall gold potential.
