First Mining Gold Corp. has entered into a definitive Project Agreement with Cat Lake First Nation and Lac Seul First Nation covering the Springpole Gold Project in northwestern Ontario. The agreement establishes a binding, long-term framework for collaboration across construction, operations, and closure at one of Canada's largest undeveloped gold resources.

The execution of the definitive agreement follows a term sheet announced by First Mining on June 16, 2026. Negotiations for the pact were rooted in a community-led Anishinaabe-Led Impact Assessment process conducted by the two First Nations. The accord secures structured participation for community members in environmental management and monitoring, adaptive management implementation, preferential training, business opportunities, and the sharing of financial benefits.

"We are very pleased to have reached this Project Agreement with Cat Lake First Nation and Lac Seul First Nation and for the opportunity to have participated in the community-led assessment process that was foundational in the collaborative path forward that has been established. We appreciate the enormous amount of work and dedication that both Nations have put into understanding the Springpole Project and working toward this collaborative definitive agreement for advancement of the mine."

— Dan Wilton, CEO of First Mining

The project previously received federal Environmental Assessment approval from the federal Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature in June 2026. Alongside community and regulatory milestones, First Mining committed up to $4 million in June 2026 to fund permitting, right-of-way clearing, and engineering design for an all-season access road connecting Cat Lake First Nation to Sioux Lookout. First Mining is currently advancing a Feasibility Study for the Springpole development.
