First Phosphate has finalized agreements with the Government of Canada to receive $4.84 million in non-repayable contributions to accelerate infrastructure development at its Bégin-Lamarche phosphate deposit in Quebec. The funding, provided through Natural Resources Canada’s First and Last Mile Fund, addresses specific clean energy and logistics gaps identified as constraints to the project’s production and expansion.

The total package is split into two distinct streams. The first, totalling approximately $3.07 million, is dedicated to the development of a 161-kV power transmission line and necessary substations. First Phosphate will use these funds to conduct comprehensive technical analyses, environmental studies, and site selection for clean energy infrastructure. The scope of work also includes a formal feasibility study to confirm the design and technical viability of the transmission connection.

The second funding component, amounting to approximately $1.77 million, is earmarked for critical road infrastructure. These funds will support the preparatory work for constructing a new access road and identifying the most efficient options for upgrading existing bypass routes. These road improvements are intended to support the transport of materials between the Bégin-Lamarche mine site and regional infrastructure, including rail links and the Port of Saguenay. The work involves a series of technical, environmental, and economic studies, as well as traffic analysis and essential consultations with public and Indigenous stakeholders.

These non-repayable contributions supplement the $16.7 million in funding previously made available by Natural Resources Canada in March 2026 through the Global Partnerships Initiative. The newly signed agreements cover eligible activities planned through 2030, ensuring a long-term framework for the project’s infrastructure development.

The company confirmed that the planned technical and environmental studies, alongside the feasibility and pre-feasibility work, are designed to move the Bégin-Lamarche deposit toward its target production goals while maintaining the technical requirements under National Instrument 43-101.
