Galantas Selects Engineering and Mine Planning Contractors for Andacollo Gold Project
Galantas Gold Corporation has advanced the development framework for its 100%-owned Andacollo Gold Project in Chile's Coquimbo Region by appointing key engineering and contractor partners to execute its Preliminary Economic Assessment and site restart plans.
Galantas selected M3 Engineering & Technology Corporation to lead the PEA and manage the relocation program for a three-stage crushing plant acquired from Mexico. M3's mandate covers engineering, procurement support, and construction management for the dismantling, transportation, installation, and commissioning of the equipment, which carries a stated design capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes per day subject to engineering confirmation. The PEA is targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, supporting a potential operational restart targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
The Andacollo property is a past-producing heap-leach operation that produced 1.12 million ounces of gold between 1998 and 2018. Existing site infrastructure—including historical open pits, crushing areas, heap-leach facilities, solution ponds, an adsorption, desorption and recovery plant, workshops, offices, and established power and water utilities—is expected to lower capital intensity, shorten the restart schedule, and reduce execution risk compared to a greenfield development.
Supporting engineering work is distributed among specialized contractors. NCL Ingeniería y Construcción Ltda. is advancing mine design and production schedules, while STRACON is providing early contractor involvement on mining fleet requirements, operating costs, pit dewatering, truck-shop refurbishment, and execution planning. Simultaneously, the Galantas project and operations team led by Senior Vice President of Operations Robert Sedgemore is conducting infrastructure refurbishment, including cleaning, inspection, repair, replacement, and sandblasting activities currently underway at the existing ADR plant.
“Andacollo Gold is a permitted brownfield restart with low capital intensity supported by an established Mineral Resource Estimate. M3 is leading the PEA and crushing plant relocation program, while NCL Ingeniería y Construcción Ltda. of Chile is advancing the mine design and production schedules, and STRACON is providing mining cost, fleet and execution-planning input. In parallel, our Project and operations team led by Robert Sedgemore, Senior Vice President Operations, is advancing infrastructure refurbishment, procurement, contractor engagement and operational readiness at site. Our priorities remain safe execution, capital discipline and cost control as the Company advances toward a potential restart, currently targeted for the first quarter of 2027.”
