Golden Cariboo Expands Halo Zone 200 Metres West at Quesnelle Gold Quartz
Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has completed core logging and sampling for diamond drill hole QGQ26-30, extending gold mineralization at least 200 metres west of previous drilling at the Halo zone on its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property in British Columbia.
Drilled to a final logged depth of 402.38 metres, QGQ26-30 intersected broad intervals of intense sericite and carbonate-altered volcanic rocks dominated by andesite tuff, alongside chromium-mica alteration. Mineralized quartz and quartz-carbonate veining was common throughout the hole, with visible gold observed as irregular flecks up to 3 millimetres in size adjacent to and within veins containing disseminated to cubic pyrite.
Sulphide mineralization is dominated by pyrite with minor chalcopyrite, rare pyrrhotite, and localized semi-massive to massive sulphide intervals. Listwanite was intersected near the bottom of the hole between 384.77 metres and 385.25 metres, enveloped within an andesitic volcanosedimentary unit and surrounded by a 16.27-metre halo of disseminated sulphide mineralization containing up to 20% replacement pyrite.
The initial observations indicate that mineralization continues to be open in all directions, building on previous drilling such as hole QGQ24-20, which reported 1.55 g/t gold and 16.05 g/t silver over 137.17 metres.
“This represents an important step out from previously defined mineralization and further demonstrates the lateral continuity and scale potential of the Halo system,” said Frank Callaghan, President and CEO.
All samples from QGQ26-30 have been submitted to MSALabs in Prince George for photon assay analysis, with results pending. Assay results from QGQ26-30 and up to nine historical drill holes alongside the company's first 30 surface diamond drill holes will be included in Golden Cariboo's upcoming Mineral Resource Estimate.
