Golden Minerals Company has announced that Pablo Castanos has resigned from his roles as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 30, 2026, to pursue another opportunity. Castanos will continue to serve as a director on the board.

The board has appointed David Watkins as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 30, 2026. Watkins has served as a director of Golden Minerals since 2009 and is an exploration geologist and seasoned mining executive with a track record of discovering and developing multiple base and precious metals mines around the world.

Alongside the executive changes, the company provided an operational update regarding its Argentine assets. Cascadero Copper Corporation, Golden Minerals' partner in the Sarita Este and Desierto projects, reported on September 1, 2026, that it agreed to sell its interests in those properties and other Argentine assets to Lumina Copper Corporation, a wholly-owned affiliate of First Quantum Minerals Ltd. Golden Minerals stated that it looks forward to working with First Quantum if the transaction is completed.

Following previous surface exploration and rock sampling at the Desierto project, Golden Minerals is planning a first-stage drill program to test potentially deep mineralization. The upcoming drilling aims to test mineralization similar to settings at First Quantum's Taca Taca copper project immediately north of Golden's targets at the Desierto concessions. First Quantum previously reported in July 2026 that it opened talks to sell a minority stake in Taca Taca within the surrounding district.

The company expects to announce the details of its drilling program later in September 2026.
