Hawk Resources Hits Up to 66.6% Copper in Comet Zone Drilling at Cactus

Hawk Resources has intersected strong near-surface copper mineralisation in five of the seven completed drill holes within the Comet zone of the Cactus Corridor at its Cactus copper-gold project in Utah, United States, with spot portable XRF readings reaching up to 66.6% copper.

The drilling programme is testing a one-kilometre-long structural zone trending northwest from the historical Comet deposit through the Cactus mine to the New Years prospect. Seven holes have been completed to date in the current programme, with logging, sampling, and analysis underway on hole DD26CT012. Drilling has now progressed northwest from the Comet zone into the Cactus zone, with four holes remaining.

“Strong visual copper mineralisation has been intersected in five Comet zone holes within the Cactus Corridor to date. Spot pXRF grades of 66% copper suggest the potential for chalcocite mineralisation while the dominant chalcopyrite mineralisation grades up to 35% copper. The copper occurs in coarse blebs, fractures, veins, veinlets and disseminations primarily in tourmaline breccia however preliminary logging of hole DD26CT012 suggests that the mineralisation can extend into altered intrusive interpreted to be along the margins of breccia.”

The highest spot pXRF reading of 66.6% copper was recorded in a 1.0-metre zone at 59.7 metres down hole DD26CT010, indicating potential chalcocite mineralisation. Dominant chalcopyrite mineralisation occurs in veinlets, veins, fractures, coarse blebs, and disseminations within tourmaline breccia and altered quartz monzonite intrusive, typically associated with abundant pyrite. In hole DD26CT008, an 18-metre intercept of mineralised tourmaline breccia returned highly anomalous silver, arsenic, and antimony grades. These elements correlate strongly with gold in soil samples across the project area and correspond to historical Comet area drill intercepts including 25.9 metres at 1.53 grams per tonne gold from surface.

Nearby explorer BCM Resources Corporation reported encountering over 550 metres of mineralized porphyry and skarn containing chalcopyrite and molybdenite at its Thompson Knolls project within the surrounding district in August 2026. Hawk Resources expects to receive final multi-element laboratory assays from ALS laboratories for the Cactus programme in September and October 2026.
