Iltani Intersects Base Metal Sulphides in Union Jack Drilling

Iltani Resources Limited has completed a three-hole reverse circulation drilling program at the Union Jack Prospect in Northern Queensland, returning visual intersections of lead, zinc and copper sulphide mineralisation across all holes.

The 666-metre campaign tested historical workings and geophysical electromagnetic anomalies within the Featherbed Volcanics as part of the broader Herberton project. Iltani mobilized the reverse circulation rig to the prospect after concluding work at the primary Orient Silver-Indium site.

Drill hole UJRC0001, positioned to test beneath historical surface workings, returned three metres containing up to 15% sulphides, including lead, zinc, copper and pyrite, starting from 113 metres downhole.

Hole UJRC0002 was designed to test a Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic anomaly plate and intersected a nine-metre zone of lead, zinc and copper sulphides with up to 35% sulphide content from 165 metres. Hole UJRC0003, targeting a separate electromagnetic feature, intersected 13 metres of up to 25% sulphide mineralisation from six metres.

The three completed holes span a 1,230-metre distance across the prospect area.

“We have successfully completed the Union Jack drilling, as part of the regional Herberton Project exploration program. The drilling was a great success, intercepting sulphide mineralisation in all holes, with assays pending, expected in the next 2 months.

It was particularly pleasing to see that UJRC0002 intersected a strong zone of sulphide mineralisation exactly where the geophysical modelling of the VTEM plate predicted, which confirms the ability of the airborne geophysical VTEM survey to located hitherto unknown sulphide mineralisation.

Samples from the drilling program have been submitted for laboratory assay, with initial results expected within one to two months. The company intends to complete downhole electromagnetic surveys using the polypipe-lined holes later this year.

In the surrounding district, Ballymore Resources Limited reported high-grade silver, lead, zinc, and indium drill intercepts at its Ruddygore project.
