iMetal Resources Inc. has appointed veteran mining executive Michel Dufresne to its board following a strategic investment that established McFarlane Lake Mining Limited as the company's largest shareholder with an approximate 19.9% stake.

The board nomination follows an August 2026 investment agreement granting McFarlane Lake Mining the right to appoint a director and advise on exploration. The incoming executive brings multi-decade experience directing major global operations, including roles with Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. and Falconbridge Ltd.

The changes support ongoing work at the Gowganda West gold project, an exploration-stage property situated in the Shining Tree Camp area of the southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt. Drilling in the West Zone returned 278.35 metres at 0.424 g/t gold in hole IMGW-25-06.

The flagship property is contiguous with McFarlane Lake Mining's Juby Project and the Knight project, held through a partnership between Orecap Invest Corp. and Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. In the surrounding district, McFarlane Lake Mining reported drill results of 179 metres at 0.87 g/t gold and 155 metres at 0.9 g/t gold at its Juby Gold Project in July 2026.

“Michel's appointment is a meaningful step forward for iMetal,” said Saf Dhillon, President and CEO of iMetal. “His mine-building experience, operational discipline, and record of advancing major projects add valuable depth to our board at an important stage for the Company.”
