Ioneer Ltd. (INR) has taken a significant step toward advancing its Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron Project in Nevada by signing non-binding Memorandums of Understanding with two major Korean entities. The company formalised agreements with the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) and Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. to support the project's development path.

Under the terms of the MOUs, KIND is evaluating a potential equity investment in the project, while Hyundai Engineering is considering a role in procurement-related activities. These partnerships are intended to strengthen the project’s development, which aims to produce both lithium and boron on-site once operational. The company has already invested over US$220 million into the site, which is slated to support several hundred permanent positions in rural Nevada.

Management indicated these agreements are a strategic move to help secure supply chains for critical minerals. By bringing on these partners, the company aims to move closer to a formal project sanctioning.

"These MOUs reflect the strength and maturity of Rhyolite Ridge. With the entry into MOUs with KIND and Hyundai Engineering, we are one step closer to a Final Investment Decision and to delivering this once-in-a-generation asset for U.S. critical minerals production."

— James Calaway, Executive Chairman, Ioneer

The MOUs remain non-binding, meaning there is no legal obligation for KIND or Hyundai Engineering to provide capital or services. Despite this, the collaboration represents a key effort to advance the site toward a Final Investment Decision, which remains the primary upcoming catalyst for the development of the project.
