Iron Road Partners has appointed James McGovern as managing director in New York.

McGovern brings extensive experience, having spent nine years in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement, ultimately serving as an assistant director in the Asset Management Unit.

Following the SEC, McGovern transitioned to senior compliance roles at hedge funds. Most recently, he served as general counsel and chief compliance officer of Candlestick Capital Management LP. His background also includes roles as general counsel and chief compliance officer at Mason Capital Management LLC and chief compliance officer at Hutchin Hill Capital LP. He began his legal career at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP.

In his new role, McGovern joins a leadership team of former senior SEC officials and asset management compliance professionals.
