Kalgoorlie Gold Mining Limited (ASX: KAL) has kicked off a substantial 10,750-metre aircore drilling program at its Pinjin project in Western Australia. The campaign, which involves up to 225 holes, is strategically focused on testing a regional-scale structural flexure within the Laverton Tectonic Zone. The company aims to identify near-surface gold anomalism and pathfinder minerals that could warrant follow-up reverse circulation drilling.

The exploration target is situated approximately 3.5 kilometres southeast of the recently drilled Kirgella Gift and Providence gold deposits. During preliminary site preparation, field teams identified previously undocumented outcrops of sheared granitic gneiss. The company interprets these geological units as part of the sheared margin of the Rebecca Sequence, which hosts significant gold mineralization elsewhere in the district. Geologists believe these specific structural reorientations are highly prospective, as they potentially create essential pathways for gold-bearing fluids.

The current aircore campaign is expected to span approximately six weeks. Looking ahead, the company also plans to recommence reverse circulation drilling at its Lighthorse prospect to test strike extensions and investigate previous gold intercepts. Meanwhile, investors are waiting on assay results from earlier drilling at the Kirgella Gift and Providence deposits, which remain pending due to extended laboratory turnaround times.

The company maintains a total gold resource base exceeding 214,000 ounces across its broader project portfolio. A key part of its operational strategy is the ability to define shallow, open-pittable resources while keeping costs low; the company recently reported discovery costs of less than A$4.60 per ounce. These upcoming drilling results are critical for the business as it continues to systematically test its extensive landholding within this prolific gold-producing region of Western Australia.
