Kirkland Lake Discoveries Expands Mirado Gold System with High-Grade Intercepts
Kirkland Lake Discoveries Corp. (KLDC) (TSXV: KLDC) has released new assay results from its ongoing 2026 drilling campaign at the Mirado gold project in Ontario, demonstrating both lateral and vertical expansion of the mineralized system. The company reported data from eight additional drill holes, highlighting broad near-surface mineralization and high-grade structures situated below the historical resource. Among the most significant findings, hole KLM26-017 returned 18.99 g/t Au over 6.7 m, including a high-grade interval of 125.91 g/t Au over 1.0 m, which reinforces the persistence of high-grade mineralization at depth. This latest high-grade intercept compares favorably to the company’s June 2026 report of 79.63 g/t Au over 2.1 m, providing further evidence of the system's structural complexity. The drilling program continues to test the company’s “shatter-and-fill” geological model, which interprets the deposit as a structurally controlled system where gold is concentrated within fractured, silicified rock. In the South Zone, hole KLM26-019 expanded the near-surface mineralized footprint by approximately 130 m to the northwest, returning 0.50 g/t Au over 91.0 m. Additionally, step-out drilling in the North Zone confirmed continuity beyond the previously defined footprint, with hole KLM26-013 extending the mineralized trend by 85 m and returning 0.98 g/t Au over 35.0 m.
"Today's results are important as they demonstrate growth in three dimensions at KL South." — Stefan Sklepowicz, Chief Executive Officer
Beyond the main Mirado deposit, the company has completed its first regional test at the MZ Zone, located approximately 500 m to the west. Initial visual logs from hole KLM26-035 revealed intense hydrothermal alteration characterized by chlorite, silica, and epidote, accompanied by pyrite mineralization. While laboratory assays for this hole remain pending, management noted that the alteration style is visually consistent with previous successful intercepts at the project. To facilitate further exploration, the company has secured a regional drilling permit covering the entirety of the KL South project area.
This exploration activity sits within the company’s broader corporate strategy, as KLDC maintains a consolidated 420-km² portfolio across the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, including the KL West and KL East projects. The company is actively working to advance its pipeline of targets, with significant near-term news flow anticipated. Investors are currently awaiting the results of 16 additional drill holes from the ongoing Mirado program, which will provide further clarity on the system's ultimate scale and grade distribution. As the current drilling continues, the company plans to utilize its newly granted regional permit to test additional structural targets identified through recent geophysical and geochemical interpretation. These upcoming assay results and the planned expansion of the regional drilling program will be the primary catalysts for the company in the coming months as it attempts to unlock the potential of the broader KL South land package.
