Koonenberry Gold Completes Acquisition of Gundagai Gold-Copper Project
Koonenberry Gold Limited has completed its 100% acquisition of Gilmore Minerals Pty Ltd, securing the high-grade Gundagai Gold-Copper Project in New South Wales following shareholder approval at a general meeting held on 31 July 2026.
The transaction expands the company’s footprint within the Lachlan Fold Belt by 485 square kilometres. The contiguous tenement package—comprising EL8061, EL8586, EL8889, and EL8998—encompasses four primary target domains: Johnston's Hill, Big Ben-Princess Marina, Snowball-Califat, and Kimo. These areas are considered prospective for epithermal-porphyry gold-copper, intrusion-related, and orogenic gold systems.
“Completing the Gundagai acquisition provides Koonenberry with a 485km 2 expansion of our Lachlan Fold Belt footprint and represents a Tier-1 'camp-scale' opportunity with near-term drill targets. These are highlighted by high- grade gold rock chip results up to 386g/t and 320g/t Au1, high-grade copper rock chip results up to 27.05% Cu2 and previous limited shallow drilling with has returned results including 1m @ 23g/t Au within 20m @ 1.78g/t Au3.”
— Paul Harris, Executive Chairman
In connection with the completion, Koonenberry issued the agreed consideration securities to the Gilmore Minerals vendors on 10 August 2026. These consideration shares are subject to a voluntary escrow period of 12 months from the completion date.
With tenement transfers currently progressing, Koonenberry plans to roll out a low-cost, rapid exploration program at Gundagai. Field activities, supported by surface geochemistry and targeted geophysics to outline near-term drill-ready targets, are scheduled to begin later this quarter.
The acquisition broadens Koonenberry's New South Wales portfolio, complementing its existing Prince of Wales and Brungle projects, as well as its nearby Junee Newmont JV where Newmont is currently diamond drilling. The surrounding district also sees active exploration, with LinQ Minerals reporting high-grade copper-gold intersections, including 5m at 5.36% CuEq at its Monza prospect in July 2026.
