Lightning Minerals Ltd (L1M) has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with exploration technology company Eigenform NextMaps. The partnership aims to deploy artificial intelligence and advanced geological analytics to refine exploration planning and drill targeting across the company's Australian portfolio. This initiative is a core component of the "Strategic Reset" launched in April 2026, which focuses the firm on gold and copper assets while divesting non-core lithium projects to streamline operations.

The collaboration will initially digitise and integrate historical datasets from the company’s Western Australian gold projects. Following this pilot, the technology is set to be applied to the flagship Mt Turner gold project in Queensland. The objective is to enhance geological interpretation, generate refined exploration targets, and ultimately optimize capital allocation as the firm works toward defining a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate at the site.

Managing Director Troy Brice emphasized that the move is intended to augment, rather than replace, the company’s internal geological expertise.

This digital integration comes as the company advances its active exploration schedule. Phase 2 drilling at Mt Turner is slated to commence in mid-July 2026, building on recent soil geochemistry programs. Furthermore, the company anticipates receiving assay results from its Western Zone soil campaign by mid-August. By layering these AI-assisted workflows over its current field activities, the company aims to improve exploration confidence and project efficiency as it works toward establishing a maiden resource for its flagship asset.
