Midas Minerals Hits 41m at 1.13% Copper at Otavi Project's Spaatzu Prospect
Midas Minerals has intersected shallow, high-grade copper and silver assay results from the south-eastern extension of the Spaatzu Prospect at its Otavi Copper Project in Namibia, extending the drill-tested mineralisation zone to 1,200 metres of strike.
Reverse circulation drilling delivered notable intersections, including hole SPRC094 returning 41 metres at 1.13% copper and 33.4 grams per tonne silver from a depth of 19 metres, including 20 metres at 1.83% copper and 63.4 grams per tonne silver from 39 metres.
Additional shallow hits included hole SPRC093, which intersected 37 metres at 1.11% copper and 29.7 grams per tonne silver from 73 metres—featuring a 10-metre section at 1.51% copper and 47.0 grams per tonne silver from 74 metres, and a 5-metre interval grading 1.97% copper and 52.8 grams per tonne silver from 98 metres. Hole SPRC097 returned 29 metres at 1.47% copper and 37.0 grams per tonne silver from 86 metres, including an 8-metre interval grading 2.74% copper and 71.9 grams per tonne silver from 102 metres.
The new intercepts represent the most consistent mineralisation encountered at Spaatzu to date, with drilling demonstrating intervals close to true width. The mineralised zone forms part of a broader 4-kilometre anomaly trend located 10.5 kilometres west of the T-13 Deposit, where Midas previously announced an initial Inferred Mineral Resource estimate of 10.5 million tonnes at 1.6% copper and 21 grams per tonne silver on 16 April 2026.
Midas Managing Director Mark Calderwood said: “Our recent drilling results and revised geological interpretation at Spaatzu have significantly increased our understanding of the potential of this mineralised corridor which potentially extends for 4km and has been successfully drill tested over 1.2km, demonstrating strong zones of mineralisation.”
“The copper-silver mineralisation in the south-eastern extension is more consistent than that encountered to the north-west, highlighting the significant resource potential. Recent intercepts are close to true width within a gentle dipping/plunging zone of mineralisation,” Mr. Calderwood added.
The company currently has two drill rigs operating at Spaatzu to carry out exploration and resource drilling, with further assay results pending. Across the wider Otavi project, Midas has seven rigs running, with plans to scale operations up to nine rigs.
The active campaign supports the company's timeline for resource definition across the district. Midas expects to deliver initial Mineral Resource Estimates for the Spaatzu and Deblin deposits in the first quarter of calendar 2027, alongside an updated resource estimate for the T-13 deposit.
