Minsud Resources Expands Chita Valley Drilling to 10,500 Metres and Triggers JV Suspension
Minsud Resources Corp. has expanded its upcoming exploration work at the Chita Valley polymetallic project in San Juan, Argentina, scheduling 10,500 metres of diamond drilling across four priority targets.
The expanded campaign nearly doubles the scale of the previous drilling completed at the Chita South Porphyry deposit in November 2025, which comprised 5,490.2 metres across 19 drillholes. Scheduled to begin in August 2026, the new programme allocates 4,600 metres to the Chinchillones deposit, 2,250 metres to Chita South Porphyry, 2,150 metres to Placetas, and 1,500 metres to Pinto.
Alongside the expanded drill schedule, Minsud has exercised a contractual 12-month suspension period under its shareholders' agreement with South32. Under the arrangement, South32 is responsible for funding the required contributions to Minera Sud Argentina S.A., the operating company that holds the Chita Valley Project. Minsud indirectly holds a 49.9% interest in Minera Sud Argentina, with South32 holding the remaining 50.1%.
During the suspension period, Minsud is exempt from funding its 49.9% share, and contractual dilution provisions are suspended. The suspension period is scheduled to expire in August 2027, at which point rights and obligations regarding the contributions will be determined under the shareholders' agreement.
The project hosts 240 million tonnes of Indicated Mineral Resources grading 0.43% copper equivalent and 955 million tonnes of Inferred Mineral Resources grading 0.35% copper equivalent, based on a resource estimate announced on February 27, 2026.
“With 240 million tonnes of Indicated Mineral Resources and 955 million tonnes of Inferred Mineral Resources already defined, the 2026 drilling program is designed to expand and potentially upgrade the existing resource base while testing multiple high-priority targets across a large-scale porphyry-epithermal district that remains significantly underexplored. We believe Chita Valley continues to offer substantial potential for resource growth and new discoveries, and that the combination of resource scale, exploration upside, excellent infrastructure and South32's operatorship positions it among the most compelling copper development opportunities in Argentina.”
