Moonlight Resources Intersects 22m at 1.26% Copper From Surface at Peak Downs
Moonlight Resources Ltd has returned all assay results from its maiden reverse circulation drilling programme at the Peak Downs Copper Prospect in central Queensland, highlighted by an intersection of 22 metres at 1.26% copper from surface in hole PDRC242, including an 8-metre interval at 2.41% copper from 2 metres.
The inaugural campaign across the historical copper system comprised 56 completed holes covering 2,988 metres. Eighteen holes were terminated early after intersecting historical underground mining voids, providing additional data on the location and extent of underground workings.
Other notable assay results include hole PDRC252, which intersected 14 metres at 1.50% copper from 52 metres, including 4 metres at 3.57% copper from 54 metres. Hole PDRC219 yielded 6 metres at 2.64% copper from 52 metres, including 2 metres at 6.26% copper from 54 metres, while hole PDRC270 returned 12 metres at 1.42% copper from surface, including 2 metres at 3.03% copper from 4 metres.
In addition to copper, elevated cobalt values were identified within several mineralised intervals, with additional work required to determine their distribution, mineralogical association and metallurgical significance.
Data from the completed Peak Downs programme will be integrated with historical drilling and mining records to form the foundation for a Mineral Resource evaluation.
"Our focus at Peak Downs now moves to the next phase of technical work. Targeted diamond drilling is planned to improve geological and structural control and provide representative core for metallurgical testwork to provide the key inputs required to assess the basis for a near-term Mineral Resource Estimate." — Greg Starr, Managing Director
The upcoming technical phase will incorporate targeted diamond drilling to improve geological and structural control, alongside an initial programme of metallurgical testwork to assess suitability for SX-EW processing.
