New Frontier Minerals (ASX: NFM) has released assay results from a May 2026 field programme at the Mt Storm copper prospect in Queensland. The work, which focused on mapping and sampling, returned high-grade copper values from in-pit and dump material. Among the eight samples collected, the highest-grade result reached 6.88% Cu.

Sequential leach analysis provided further technical clarity, confirming that the copper is predominantly hosted in soluble minerals. This finding suggests potential amenability to conventional acid-leach processing, a significant metric for evaluating the prospect’s metallurgy.

"The Mt Storm assays are an excellent outcome from our May field programme in Queensland. Copper grades of up to 6.88% at surface, together with acid-soluble copper recoveries, confirm the historical results that first drew our attention to a prospect that has already produced ore grade material at around 6% copper. Sitting only 8 km from our Big One deposit, Mt Storm is emerging as a compelling target, and our team will return to site this month to complete the detailed mapping that will assist in the development of any future drill programme."

The company’s focus is now shifting toward the next phase of exploration at Mt Storm. Following the positive assay results, the geological team is scheduled to return to the site later in July 2026 to conduct a comprehensive mapping programme. This effort aims to define the orientation of mineralised structures and trace the porphyritic syenite dyke that appears to control the mineralisation.

These upcoming field activities are designed to refine the current geological model and provide the necessary technical foundation for the design, scale, and timing of a future maiden drill programme. The company is simultaneously progressing landowner engagement and heritage planning to ensure site access for the planned work.
