Newcore Gold Appoints Sulemanu Koney as Non-Executive Director

Newcore Gold Ltd. has appointed former Ghana Chamber of Mines chief executive Sulemanu Koney as an independent, non-executive director, effective immediately.
Koney brings over 35 years of corporate experience, having led the Chamber from 2014 until 2025. During his tenure, he championed policies leveraging mining for socio-economic development and built relationships across government agencies. He also chaired the UN Global Compact Network Ghana and established the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines.
In connection with his appointment, Newcore granted Koney 225,000 stock options priced at $0.305 per share for five years vesting over three years, alongside 150,000 performance share units vesting after one year based on attendance. The grants remain subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Koney to our Board of Directors. His extensive experience, including leading the Ghana Chamber of Mines, is a valuable addition to our team and he is well placed to support Enchi through the development and permitting path forward with his strong relationships and knowledge of the Ghana regulatory and mining sector.”
— Doug Forster, Chairman of Newcore
The appointment follows Newcore filing a pre-feasibility study technical report for the Enchi Gold Project in August 2026, outlining an open-pit operation with standard processing. The company also expanded its ongoing drill program to 80,000 metres following a $15 million equity financing earlier in the year.
Newcore plans to apply for a mining lease for the Enchi project in 2026 as it advances development and permitting work across the asset.
