NewPeak Metals Limited (NPM) has confirmed the discovery of a large-scale, polymetallic mineralised system at its 100%-owned Las Opeñas gold project, located in the San Juan Province of Argentina. The company reported assay results from the first drill hole of its 2026 program, which intersected mineralisation across its entire length. Specifically, hole 26-LODH-023 returned 663m @ 0.41g/t AuEq from surface to the end of the hole, a result that highlights the substantial footprint of the project’s breccia system.

Internal intercepts from the discovery hole further demonstrate the scale of the mineralisation. Significant zones include 84m at 0.72g/t AuEq from 20m and 282m at 0.65g/t AuEq from 7m depth. The company noted that the system is defined by two primary mineralisation phases: an early gold-dominant hydrothermal phase overprinted by a broad, disseminated silver-zinc phase.

The current drill program comprised 2,464m of diamond drilling across six holes completed between April and June. Management is now processing the data from the remaining five holes, with assay results expected within the next three to six weeks. These upcoming results are critical to the company’s immediate work program, as NewPeak is targeting the potential declaration of a maiden gold-zinc-silver resource at the site. Success in these remaining holes would provide the necessary geological confidence to move the project toward this resource milestone. The project, which was reinterpreted to encompass an 800m x 600m breccia zone, appears to be part of a larger rhyolitic complex that now warrants further systematic evaluation as the company moves through its 2026 exploration schedule.
