Nex Metals Expands East Scotia Gold Footprint To 873 Square Kilometres
Nex Metals Explorations Ltd and its joint venture partner have significantly expanded the East Scotia Gold Project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields by submitting four new exploration licence applications covering approximately 738 square kilometres.
The new applications lift the combined granted and applied-for project footprint to approximately 873.1 square kilometres. Nex Wongatha JV Pty Ltd staked the four new claims between 28 August 2026 and 31 August 2026. The expanded holdings now comprise three granted exploration licences, one granted prospecting licence, and four pending exploration licence applications.
The initial acquisition of the East Scotia Gold Project was announced on 14 August 2026 for a consideration of $100,000 funded by the Wangkatja Tjungula Aboriginal Corporation alongside a 2% net smelter return royalty. That initial transaction secured a granted footprint of 133.41 square kilometres across three exploration licences and one prospecting licence.
Under the binding term sheet executed with WTAC in July 2026, WTAC provides 100% of joint venture funding as an unsecured loan repayable from operations, while Nex Metals leads project identification and due diligence.
Completion of the underlying acquisition of the initially granted tenements remains subject to conditions precedent and transfer arrangements. Meanwhile, the four newly submitted exploration licence applications are subject to the statutory grant process and currently confer no right to undertake ground-disturbing exploration.
“Our Joint Venture is aggressively progressing the expansion and exploration of its Western Australian gold portfolio. The East Scotia Gold Project is a strong example of that strategy, with the additional applications significantly increasing our regional footprint across a highly prospective geological setting. Our focus now is to progress the applications and statutory approvals in parallel with completing the acquisition of the granted Exploration and Prospecting Licences while planning the geological work required to systematically assess and prioritise exploration opportunities across this expanded project area.”
— Ken Allen, Managing Director
Once statutory grants and acquisition completions are finalised, the joint venture plans to carry out extensive auger geochemistry and geological reconnaissance to ground-truth public datasets and define priority drill targets across the northern extent of the Scotia-Kanowna Granodiorite.
