NioBay has produced high-purity niobium and tantalum oxides from material collected at its Crevier niobium and tantalum project in Quebec. Following hydrometallurgical processing and a calcination phase carried out at temperatures up to 1050 °C, the company achieved purity levels of approximately 99.6% for niobium oxide and 99.98% for tantalum oxide.

The purification work, conducted at independent SGS Canada facilities, confirms that the processing route can yield products meeting technical specifications for potential customers in the battery and superalloy industries. NioBay is now looking toward larger-scale testing programs to further validate these production results.

These efforts form part of a broader push to advance the Crevier project, with the company assessing the potential to focus the operation exclusively on the production of niobium oxide for high-end manufacturing applications. Future milestones involve refining the project’s technical parameters and aligning the final product quality with the specific requirements of prospective industrial partners.
