Niobay Metals Inc. has been awarded a $500,000 grant under the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests’ Mining Research and Innovation Support Program for its Crevier niobium and tantalum project.

The non-dilutive funding will be used to process a 140-metric-ton bulk sample from the Crevier deposit and to optimize hydrometallurgical processes for the production of niobium and tantalum oxides. The accepted project is titled "PRODUCTION OF A Nb AND Ta CONCENTRATE FROM 140 METRIC TONS OF MATERIAL FROM THE CREVIER DEPOSIT AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE HYDROMETALLURGICAL PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF Nb AND Ta OXIDES."

The Crevier Project focuses on producing niobium oxide for battery and superalloy manufacturers—including defense industry suppliers—and tantalum oxide for high-tech applications. The project is located approximately 50 km north of Girardville and about 150 km from the Niobec mine, situated within the ancestral territory of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh, with NioBay holding a 72.5% interest in the asset.

Alongside processing optimization, project owner Les Métaux Niobay Inc. staked six new mineral titles near the project on May 15, 2026. The company is also advancing a minimum 5,000-metre drilling campaign at the Crevier property during the summer 2026 field season.
