Northern Star Resources reports strong quarterly cash flow and operational progress
Northern Star Resources Ltd (NST) has released its results for the quarter ending June 2026, highlighting strong operational performance across its asset base. The company reported total gold production of 433,482 ounces at an all-in sustaining cost of A$2,651 per ounce. This performance contributed to a group underlying free cash flow of A$206 million, with the business closing the period holding A$1,235 million in cash and bullion.
The quarterly results were bolstered by significant contributions from all three of the company's production centres, which collectively generated positive net mine cash flow of A$443 million. Mining volumes at the KCGM site reached targeted annualised rates, representing records under current ownership, while the Jundee and Thunderbox operations showed improvements in milling and grade performance.
"The June quarter delivered improved operational performance and positive net mine cashflow of A$443 million demonstrating the quality of our portfolio and reinforcing the long-term value potential of the business."
— Stuart Tonkin, Managing Director
Beyond current production, the company continues to advance its development pipeline. The KCGM Mill Expansion Project has reached a critical stage with the commissioning of the new infrastructure now underway. This project is central to the company’s efforts to increase processing capacity to 27 million tonnes per annum. The existing processing plant will continue to operate through August, with a planned tie-in to the expanded facility scheduled for September 2026.

Looking ahead, management remains focused on executing several upcoming project milestones. Stage 2 of the KCGM expansion, which aims to consolidate processing into a single hub and improve recovery rates, remains on track for completion in the latter half of the 2027 fiscal year. Additionally, the company is progressing the Hemi Project, with Managed Aquifer Recharge trials set to commence during the September quarter. A final investment decision for Hemi is currently targeted for late fiscal year 2027.
The transition in leadership also remains on schedule, with the incoming managing director and chief executive, Suresh Vadnagra, set to assume his role on 5 October 2026. Investors looking for further clarity on production and cost expectations can anticipate the release of group annual guidance for the 2027 fiscal year on 20 August 2026. Management has indicated that this guidance will incorporate early operating data from the initial commissioning phase of the expanded mill, allowing for a more accurate assessment of throughput and recovery assumptions as the new infrastructure scales toward its long-term operational targets. By delaying the guidance release until late August, the company intends to provide a more precise outlook once initial ramp-up activities provide clearer operational data.
