Opus One Gold Corporation has intersected significant gold mineralization across an 800-metre strike length in five shallow exploratory drill holes completed on the West Zone of its Noyell property in the northern portion of the Abitibi greenstone belt near Matagami, Quebec.

The preliminary drill program totaled 1,467 metres across the sector, testing an old gold showing area that had not previously been drill-tested by the company. All five holes intersected the main target above the 300-metre level.

Notable intercepts included drill hole NO-26-09, which returned 1.03 g/t gold over a true width of 6.85 metres from 240.42 metres alongside a deeper interval of 3.48 g/t gold over 0.92 metres. Drill hole NO-26-20 intersected 1.34 g/t gold over a true width of 6.43 metres from 271.18 metres, while drill hole NO-26-22 returned 1.18 g/t gold over 6.62 metres from 295.13 metres and a second interval of 0.71 g/t gold over 3.77 metres. Drill hole NO-26-16 returned 0.50 g/t gold over an 8.73-metre true width, and hole NO-26-17 yielded 1.11 g/t gold over 3.07 metres.

Geologically, the West Zone features alternating bands of sheared sediments and volcanics dipping south at 55 degrees, with gold mineralization hosted in a possible mylonitic zone containing five to fifteen percent sulphides. This environment differs from the central Zone 1 area, which consists of a quartz, ankerite and semi-massive sulphide stockwork within a non-sheared sedimentary package. Opus One holds a 100% ownership interest in the property.
