Orosur Hits High-Grade Gold at Pepas West
Orosur Mining has intersected shallow, high-grade gold mineralisation at the Pepas West prospect, part of its Anzá project in Colombia. The latest results from six drill holes include a standout intercept of 10.2 metres at 5.77 g/t gold, with other intercepts including 19.8 metres at 1.77 g/t gold and 15 metres at 2.03 g/t gold.
The drilling has identified a flat-lying, near-surface mineralised zone approximately 10 metres thick. Geological analysis suggests the zone consists of both in-situ and heavily weathered material that may have been remobilised downslope from the adjacent Pepas deposit. Orosur is currently trading at $0.275, up 3.77%.
The company plans to test the use of a smaller auger rig in the coming weeks to more efficiently define the extent and grade of this surface zone, which it considers a priority for a potential near-term production scenario. While the diamond rig will remain on site to target deeper zones, the company expects the auger trials to assist in characterising the shallow mineralisation. Concurrently, Orosur is progressing the main Pepas deposit through feasibility and permitting.
“The geological nature of Pepas West is complex as a result of mixing of totally weathered and transported material. However, the grade is there which in the end is all that matters. With Pepas entering feasibility and permitting, additional cheap ounces are worth their weight in gold.”
